Buy vs Build a Restaurant: The Three Numbers That Decide

The frame

Buying and building are the same bet priced two ways. Three numbers decide which price is honest:

  1. The value bracket vs the build total. Bracket the listing with the Buy-vs-Build Checker (SDE × the convention range) and price your build with the True-Cost Calculator. If a verified business costs less than your build — with revenue from day one — buying wins the math.
  2. The time gap. A bought restaurant can trade in weeks (after transfer approvals); a build runs the full Opening Map — months of rent before revenue. Time is money at exactly your rent rate.
  3. The verifiable earnings. A build has no earnings to verify — only your plan. A purchase has real earnings that are either documented (tax returns, POS, deposits agreeing) or decorated. Pay only for the documented kind.

Draw both roads on the Opening Map — the buying path is one of its doors, with the transfer-verification step placed where it belongs: before the money moves.

Don't read the table — run your verdict. Bracket a real listing in a minute.
